Northern Illinois Steel invests in state-of-the-art equipment that enables us to provide efficient, cost effective solutions to our customers' needs. We currently operate in an 80,000 square foot facility. We fabricate in two major buildings and have a separate site for additional machine shop services. Our main fabrication facility and warehouse is 60,000 square feet. Our newest facility is 20,000 square feet and is used for product warehousing as well as fabrication services. All of our major equipment is computer controlled automating all key fabrication processes, effectively reducing our labor cost per unit ton produced.

Flame Cutting
Our "Burny 10" Torch Burning machine can burn any carbon steel up to 8" in thickness. We have the capability of burning virtually any size material. Our computerized Torch Burning system has 50 pre-programmed shapes, only requiring your job's dimensions before completing. With our burning machine's four torch-cutting heads, we can cut multiple pieces at the same time. Our software can interface with your computerized drawings to cut any custom shape we don't have programmed.

Plasma Cutting
Our Plasma technology allows for efficient cutting of stainless steel and aluminum material. Our system employs a process using electricity with various gas combinations creating an arc capable of separating metal of varying sizes into specific shapes. Our Plasma Cutter can cut up to 2" in thickness and generally hold dimensions within .030. As a result, Plasma cutting delivers clean, smooth and precise cuts that are slag free to reduce secondary finishing.

Press Brake
Our fabrication services include forming components per specification, serving a wide range of industries with stringent press brake requirements. Forming services are one of our core competencies at Northern Illinois Steel. Our technicians have expertise forming parts of any shape in varying thicknesses and materials for both industrial and precision clients. We can form 28 gauge to 1" plate in all different grades of steel. Our brakes have 600 tons of press capacity and can form lengths up to 16 feet.

Shear
Northern Illinois Steel produces high quality sheared parts using precision machinery. We can shear 28 gauge to 1", up to lengths of 16 feet. Shearing is a cost effective solution for parts requiring a straight edge cut up to .030 inch tolerance. We can assist you in finding a solution for your parts that match your quality standards and cost requirements.

Saw Cutting
Our state-of-the-art, computerized Do-All and HE&M saws can cut through any steel bars, tubing and other metal products up to an 8" thickness to a maximum length of 60 feet. Our saws can easily cut different metals with adjustable cutting pressures and feed rates. The heavy duty feed system ensures an accurate feed length that consistently holds the tightest of tolerances.

Rebar Bender
Our heavy-duty rebar bender can bend rebar up to #11 (1 3/8”) grade 60. The machine can be set to accurately bend any angle from 0-180 degrees.

Plate Roller
Our plate roller can fabricate cylinders, cones and custom buckets 1" in thickness and up to 20 feet in length. Our roller can bend any shape in a variety of materials.

Punch Press
Our punch presses can cut through any steel and create round holes, slotted holes or square openings up to 1 1/8" diameter up to 1" plate thickness. For hole punching, this process is more efficient than traditional drilling, and also more cost effective.
